Behind the appellation Liberty Place was a search for a name that would reflect the building’s past and future, while expressing its unique attributes.

Legion House, brilliantly refurbished as part of the development, was originally a women’s refuge, so the word ‘liberty’ connects to the plight of the women who sought help here and their liberation from poverty or abuse.

One definition of Liberty is: “To make ones own decisions freely and ability to express individual views.”

Liberty is a word of great possibilities, of hope and positive views, of creativity and collaboration. The new building and the plaza precinct were created in this spirit.

Liberty allows freedom of thought, the freedom to think outside the square to innovate and create. In this sense, the word expresses the groundbreaking features of Liberty Place such as innovations in sustainability and the way the building sets a new bench mark in modern corporate architecture and design.
